The Lancia Fulvia was a replacement for the Appia, featuring a completely new V4 engine this model managed to distinguish itself in the world of rallying.

In 1972 with Fiat now in charge, Lancia's reputation started to corrode along with its new model the Lancia Beta, which unfortunately gained a reputation for rust instead of its impressive attributes.

The Lancia Beta Spider was launched in 1975 and based on Beta Coupé with the Spider having a convertible roof. In the same year Lancia launched the H.P.E (High Performance Estate), this was a stylish sporting estate which was arguably Beta's best version.

The Montecarlo was Lancia's next offering, launched in 1975 this model was named after Lancia's Monte Carlo rally victory. It had been designed by Pininfarina to be a big sister to the Fiat X19 but instead ended up as part of the Lancia range .

The Lancia Gamma was unfortunately not one of Lancia's better models, it started life as a joint project between Lancia and Citroën. But president Charles de Galle stopped the venture due to fears Lancia were benefiting too much from Citroën. Lancia were forced to finish the model by filling in gaps with Beta parts. This compromise led to the Gamma being plagued by mechanical failings.
